Executive Overview
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me earlier this week, Wayne. It was great to hear about the business, and I came away with a clear picture of what you need and the opportunity that's sitting in front of you.
This proposal sets out my recommended approach for a new, purpose-built website for W.S. Electrical (SW) Ltd — hand-coded from scratch, designed specifically to generate enquiries and position you as the go-to electrician across the Exmoor area, Watchet, Williton and Minehead.
The timing is excellent. You're already established and have a Facebook presence, you're taking on an apprentice, and you're beginning to explore EV charger installations — a high-growth, high-margin service that homeowners and businesses are actively searching for right now. A well-built website ties all of that together and makes sure you're found by the right people at the right moment.
Generate genuine leads and enquiries from homeowners and businesses across Somerset who need a trusted, qualified local electrician.
Position Wayne as an EV charger installer before competitors do — capturing high-value EV enquiries while the local market is still wide open.
Site live within 8–10 weeks of sign-off — well before the summer busy period when property owners book tradespeople.
Low upfront setup cost with a manageable monthly plan covering hosting, maintenance, and ongoing support.
Our Understanding of Your Business
Before recommending anything, I want to show you I've listened carefully. Below is my understanding of where the business stands and where you're heading. Please flag anything I've got wrong — it matters that this proposal is built on accurate foundations.
About the Business
- Trading as W.S. Electrical (SW) Ltd — fully qualified, self-employed electrician
- Over 20 years’ experience across domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical installations and maintenance
- NAPIT registered — a recognised competent persons scheme covering all domestic and commercial electrical work
- Based at 21 South Road, Watchet, TA23 0HE
- Serving Watchet, Williton, Minehead, Exmoor, Alcombe, and the surrounding Somerset area
- Currently has one apprentice — the business is growing
- Active Facebook page with genuine customer recommendations — existing social media presence to build from
- Exploring expansion into EV charger installation — a major growth opportunity

What the Website Needs to Do
Right now, potential customers looking for an electrician in the Watchet or Minehead area are searching online — and if you're not there, they're calling someone else. The website has three core jobs:
- Build instant trust — show qualifications, accreditations, and real work examples
- Make it easy to get in touch — phone, WhatsApp, and enquiry form all prominent
- Rank on Google — so people searching “electrician Watchet” or “EV charger installer Somerset” find you
EV charger installation is one of the fastest-growing domestic services in the UK right now. Homeowners switching to electric vehicles need a certified installer, and they're actively searching online. Getting a dedicated EV charger page live now — before your local competitors do — could be one of the highest-return actions in this proposal. The website will have this built in from day one.
Challenges This Website Will Solve
- No web presence: Without a website, you're invisible to the significant share of people who search online before picking up the phone. A Google Business Profile alone isn't enough.
- Trust signals missing: A professional website with certifications, photos, and real reviews does much of the selling before Wayne even answers the call.
- Facebook isn't enough: Not everyone uses Facebook. A website works around the clock, on Google, for every type of customer — including businesses and landlords who need documentation and compliance.
- EV chargers need their own page: To rank for EV-related searches, you need a dedicated, keyword-optimised page explaining the service, the process, and the accreditations required.
Project Scope & Deliverables
Based on our call, the following is included within this proposal. Everything below is confirmed as required unless noted as a future phase.

- Full custom website design (desktop & mobile)
- Up to 7 pages (see Site Structure, Section 4)
- Dedicated EV charger installation page
- Services overview page with all trades listed
- Gallery / work examples section

- Prominent phone number and click-to-call button
- Google Maps embed showing service area
- Google Analytics 4 setup
- On-page SEO (all pages fully optimised)
- SSL certificate (HTTPS) included
- Mobile-first responsive design
- 30-day post-launch warranty
- Training session (in person or video)

What Is Excluded from This Phase
The following are not included in this proposal but can be added in a future phase:
- Online booking / scheduling system: Can be added later if desired — diary integration is available as an add-on.
- Professional photography: Wayne will supply photos of completed work, or a photography session can be arranged separately.
- Written content: I'll draft the main copy from our notes; Wayne reviews and approves before launch.
Proposed Site Structure
The site will be clean, clear, and easy to navigate. Every page has one purpose: move the visitor toward picking up the phone or filling in the enquiry form.
Design Direction & Branding
The design must do one thing clearly: communicate that Wayne is a professional, reliable, qualified electrician who you'd trust in your home or business. Not corporate, not generic — a real local expert who knows the area and the job.
Visual Tone
The target audience is homeowners, landlords, and small businesses across Somerset. They want someone who looks the part — clean, professional, clearly qualified — but feels local and approachable, not like a national franchise. Think of the design as a uniform: smart, clean, confident.
Good news on branding: Wayne’s existing logo — the three-cable motif in navy and gold — maps perfectly onto this palette. No logo redesign is needed; the site will be built around the existing brand identity.
Design Principles
- Phone number front and centre — visible on every page, large, clickable. Tradespeople sites live and die by this.
- Mobile-first — the majority of local searches happen on a phone. The mobile experience is the priority.
- Trust signals everywhere — NAPIT registration badge, 20+ years’ experience callout, local area, customer testimonials
- Clear service area — a map or clear list of towns covered so Google (and customers) know exactly where Wayne works
- Fast loading — hand-coded sites with no plugin bloat load in under 2 seconds. Crucial for mobile users on rural connections
- Gallery that sells — real photos of real work are worth more than any stock image on a trades site
Photography Guidance
The most impactful thing Wayne can do before launch is take a dozen good-quality photos on his phone: a completed consumer unit, an EV charger install, cables neatly run, and a couple of photos of Wayne at work (wearing his uniform if he has one). These photos alone will transform how professional the site looks. I'll provide a simple shot list at kick-off.

SEO & Local Search Strategy
For a local tradesperson, local SEO is the single highest-return digital investment available. When someone in Watchet searches “electrician near me” or “NAPIT electrician Somerset”, you want Wayne's name to come up — not a national directory or a competitor from Taunton.
What Is Included (On-Page SEO)
- Keyword research for electrical services + EV chargers across the Somerset area
- Optimised page titles, meta descriptions, and heading structure on all pages
- Structured data markup (LocalBusiness + Electrician schema) — helps Google show Wayne's details in search results
- Dedicated EV charger page targeting high-intent EV search terms
- Service area page content covering Watchet, Williton, Minehead, Exmoor, and surrounding villages
- Sitemap.xml submission to Google Search Console
- Google Analytics 4 + Search Console setup and verification
- Core Web Vitals optimised (speed, interactivity, visual stability)
- Image alt text and file naming best practices throughout
Google Business Profile
EV Charger SEO
The EV charger page will be written and structured specifically to rank for searches like:
- “EV charger installer Somerset” / “EV charger installation Watchet”
- “Home EV charge point Minehead” / “electric car charger Exmoor”
- “OZEV approved installer Somerset” (if applicable to Wayne's accreditation)
This page could realistically rank within a few months given how little local competition there currently is for these terms.
Key Content Recommendation
A simple “Areas We Cover” page or section listing every village and town served is one of the most effective SEO tools for a local tradesperson. It costs very little to produce and can rank for dozens of long-tail searches. I'll build this into the site structure.

Investment & Pricing
I've structured three options to suit different budgets and preferences. All three include the same full bespoke, hand-coded website — the only difference is how the build investment is spread.
Why hand-coded? Unlike WordPress or page builder sites, every line of code is written by hand. The result is a faster, more secure, and completely unique website — with no plugin vulnerabilities, no licence fees, and no bloated code. It's entirely owned by Wayne, with no dependency on any third-party platform.
